Mid-AmericanThe MidAmerican Children’s Book Nook is jam packed with family friendly literary entertainment throughout the whole festival. The best literary talent from the region will be providing readings and interactive presentations, along with a couple surprise visits from Princesses and Superheroes along the way. Don’t miss a single minute of the fun! Click a name below for more detail on individual presenters. Each author will sign books for 30 minutes following their presentation.

Saturday, Jun. 18

10 – 10:30 a.m.
Storytime with Dan Wardell
Come enjoy storytime with Dan Wardell, the producer and host of IPTV KIDS Clubhouse and Iowa Public Television. His adventures have taken him to schools and libraries across the state, teaching kids to get outside and play, eat healthy food, use their imaginations and most importantly, read a good book!

10:45 – 11:15 a.m.
Storytime with Michelle Eastman
Michelle Eastman is the author of Dust Fairy Tales: Absolutely Aggie and The Legend of Dust Bunnies, a Fairy’s Tale.  Come hear Michelle read one of her award-winning books out loud.

11:15 – 12:15 p.m.
Performance by Chad Elliott
Come enjoy a reading of Wilderman’s Treetop Tales is a collection of whimsical lyrics and paintings created by international award-winning songwriter, Chad Elliott.

12:30 – 1:30 p.m.
Storytelling in Kenya with CultureALL Ambassador Ruth Mwangangi
Ruth Mwangangi, a native of Kenya, and a Des Moines professional will capture student’s attention with her stories. Come enjoy this adventure into Kenyan culture without leaving Des Moines.

1:45 – 2:15 p.m.
Storytime with Brooke Williams
Come join Brooke Williams for a reading of her children’s picture book, Showering in the Rain. A book designed to delight all ages.

2:15 – 3:15 p.m.
Storytime with a Princess
Everyone’s favorite princess will be visiting the MidAmerican Children’s Book Nook to read a book and take photos with fans.

3:30 – 4 p.m.
Storytime with Laura Jensen-Kimball
Laura Jensen Kimball will be reading her award winning book, Momster. This humorous book holds a lesson for both kids and parents to enjoy.

4 – 4:45 p.m.
Creative Silly Monsters with Tim Read
Tim Read is the author of the popular, My Very Silly Monster series. Enjoy a session of creativity and fun helping create unique characters to use in this improv storytime.

5 – 5:30 p.m.
Storytime with B.C. Tweedt
Come join author of the Greyson Gray series, B.C. Tweedt for a thrilling reading from his high octane young adult series.

5:30 – 6 p.m.
Storytime with S.V. Duke
S.V. Duke will be reading from her new release, The Skunk River Tales: Mystery in the Park. This is her first foray into young adult fiction, come see what all of the buzz is about.

Storytime with Everybody Wins! Iowa
Come learn about the Everybody Wins! Mentor program and hear a new spin on your favorite fairytales, with their presentation of “Fractured Fairytales”.

Storytime with Mike Draper
Mike Draper, owner of RAYGUN and author of A Spaceman Who Lived in Des Moines, and A Spaceman Who Lived in Kansas City, will be reading from his latest book. Come enjoy this literary celebration of the Midwest.
